Bad Examples - we're not publishing bad examples, but...
Increasingly people are coming clean about their difficulty holding a conversation or even ordering at times. See this link to the Guardian newspaper.
What can you do about it? It's hard surfaces, vaulted ceilings, floors, and especially sound reflective corners. And (loud) piped music. It's not against Health and Safety to have carpets and rugs (with stuck down edges). Wall hangings and curtains are good and add to a warm and comfortable atmosphere. Padded rather than hard seats are more comfortable anyway. |

Once people find they don't have to shout to have a conversation the noise will subside anyway. And then your customers will come back for more. After all, most people eat out or do coffee to socialise, chat and meet friends. Good food is important but good friends are more so!
